Freedom Club Board of Directors

The Freedom Club, Inc. is a non-profit corporation which provides meeting space for 12-Step groups in Marietta, Georgia. The Freedom Club is operated by a Board of Directors which attempts to follow spiritual principles consistent with 12-Step groups that meet at the Freedom Club.

Monthly Meetings: The Freedom Club's Board of Directors meets the second Sunday of each month at 5 pm.* Board meetings address issues related to hosting recovery groups. All group members are welcome to attend Board meetings, but only dues paying members may vote.


* Some monthly meetings are rescheduled because of holidays.
  

The Freedom Club is managed and operated by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board meets once a month for about an hour. The Board attempts to carry out the Club's mission of providing a safe and clean meeting space for 12-step recovery groups in Marietta. For organizational purposes, Board members have specific titles and responsibilies. These jobs are each vital to carrying on the Freedom Club's significant mission. The Board welcomes new members and greater participation.

Chairperson

Description: Chairperson will run the monthly board meetings and ensure that all tasks are being fulfilled by board officers and other board members.
Requirements: Should have at least 2 years continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Co-Chairperson

Description: Co-chairperson will assist in carrying out clubhouse tasks.
Requirements: Should have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Treasurer

Description: The treasurer will keep written (or typed) records of cost and revenue, as well as pay the bills, the treasurer will also have primary control over the safe.
Requirements: Should have at least 3 years continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Secretary

Description: The secretary will be in charge of taking and reading the minutes at each Board meeting. The Secretary will be in charge of ordering all items for the Club, such as chips, literature, and medallions, the secretary will be in charge of keeping up the meeting schedule changes and posting announcements in the clubhouse.
Requirements: Should have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Events Chairperson

Description: The Events chairperson is responsible for coordinating special events at the Freedom Club. The Freedom Club has traditionally hosted a Thanksgiving event, an Anniversary party and monthly events to raise funds for the Club and to promote fellowship at the Club.
Requirements: Should have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Supplies Chairperson

Description: Supplies chairperson will be in charge of keeping the Club stocked up on sodas, coffee, cups, creamer, sugar, trash bags, cleaning supplies and other needed items.
Requirements: Should have at least 2 years continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Clean-Up Chairperson

Description: Clean-up chairperson will be in charge of organizing, outreaching and facilitating club clean-up.
Requirements: Should have at least 90 days of continuous sobriety / clean time and be willing to serve.

Clean-Up Co-Chairperson

Description: Clean-Up Co-chairperson will assist the clean-up chairperson.
Requirements: Should have at least 90 days continuous sobriety / clean time and be willing to serve.

Membership Chairperson

Description: Membership chairperson is in charge of promoting member drives, keeping up with member records, and contacting members for meetings.
Requirements: Should have at least 2 years continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Literature Chairperson

Description: The Literature Chairperson is responsible for maintaining a stocked bookcase of 12-Step Literature, including A.A. and N.A. literature, at the Freedom Club. This Chairperson should also see that literature is appropriately displayed and priced. The Literature Chairperson is not responsible for chips or pamphlets, these are group responsibilities.
Requirements: Should have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

Phone Answering Chairperson

Description: The primary responsibility of the Phone Answering Chairperson is to see that phone calls to the Freedom Club for information on meeting and recovery are promptly returned. Others may assist, but it is the Club's experience that one responsible person should make certain that phone calls are returned. The Phone Answering Chair should also make sure the phone and answering machine are in proper working order.
Requirements: Should have at least 1 year of continuous sobriety / clean time and at least six months service on the Board.

 


In addition to officers, the Freedom Club Board of Directors consists of dues paying members, group representatives and some service volunteers.
